How can I fix the problem that my camera gets frozen and remains on after starting my surface pro 7?

When I start my Surface, login with face recognition works usually. However, after that, the light next to the camera remains on and doesn't switch off unless I shut down the Surface. In the mean time, I cannot use the camera as it doesn't seem to react neither for a teams call nor for the simple camera app. It's also running down my battery pretty fast. I used the troubleshooting program but it couldn't fix the issue.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thank you for reporting the issue. A new camera driver is available through Windows Update. This update addresses the issue affecting the camera's performance caused by insufficient memory or storage capacity.

For detailed information regarding updates for your Surface, please refer to the Surface Pro 7 update historypage.

Same thing happens for me. I've had 2 surfaces over the past 6 years and had to get a new one. And I've gone through 4 in the past 2 months - they each keep having this problem. It's super frustrating because everything else works and my past surfaces have been great. But this is consistently happening and restarting constantly isn't viable.

(It feels like a software issue, but I've tried updating drivers, factory resetting, upgrading from Windows 10 to 11, everything suggested... And nothing has worked. :(... )

I actually have the same problem. The measures suggested in Lavenia's post on March 26 are only a temporary solution. However, it's a pain having to deinstall and reinstall the camera driver every 2nd day. So please, @microsoft I'd appreciate if you come up with a solution as this issue has been going on for way too long.

Same problem, but after uninstalling the driver and installing it back, the camera is not working at all. It's a new surface pro 9 that I just got a few weeks ago. That's rediculous.

Same here, having this issue every one or two days.

Restarting the computer solves the problem at that moment but hours later or a day later problem will come back.

    Any longterm solution?
