Surface duo 3

actually if they just would have spent more to market it it would have been a hit... at least two people every day ask me what that is when I'm using my Duo.... they had never heard of it, I actually didn't know existed until last year.. it's almost like Microsoft is trying their best to hide it - really stupid IMHO. This device has SO much potential but they are giving up TOO EASILY... remember the iPhone didn't even copy/paste for the first 3 generations...

There will be no Surface Duo 3. Microsoft has laid off the entire team. It's dead.

I find some of this behavior typical of Microsoft.

1. Create an interesting, but buggy device that doesn't sell according to expectations.
2. Create a version 2 of the device (Still buggy). Sells better, but still not up to expectations..
3. Software updates for version 2 make it a lot better.
4. Interest generates now that it is getting good and people actually start to look forward to a gen 3 (Even beyond original buyers).
5. KILL the product line, or seriously hold it back with major changes until interest wanes.

By the time some kind of major successor is released by them the best features will be changed or lost and the original group that had interest will get tired or irritated. and move on to another device.

Microsoft has made some interesting good products in the past that it has ultimately just tomb-stoned.

I think your suggestion speaks to the very reason microsoft seems to fail with all of their phone device endeavors. Microsoft and the rest of the world should embrace the fact that it is NOT! a Galaxy Z Fold, its not a Galaxy Sxx, or an iphone. The Surface DUO is Unique and in a class by itself and Dare I say it. It's BETTER then all of those others.

Why on earth would you want to turn a trailblazing product into something inferior? I just don't get it.

I had to switch recently to a Galaxy phone because my Duo failed and I absolutely hate it. To bad microsoft doesn't have faith in their own hardware designs, it makes people like me who has been a vested user of microsoft devices of all types finally give up! I can no longer stay on a ship that the Captain is ready yo abandon at the slightest indication of rough seas.

So the Surface Duo lineup is gone. And it is supposed to run Android, a supported operating system. The problem is that they just could not get their phones to captivate the masses, even with Android on them. They should have waited and released the phone with a mobile version of Windows 11 when the PC version of the OS came out.
