i seem to have gotten the same issue. this update is BAD. my computer is now turning itself off instead of going to sleep which is very annoying.

in terms of the keyboard. go to accessibility settings and uncheck filter keys. that fixed the keyboard issue for me. no idea what's causing the shutdowns instead of going to sleep though.

Can Microsoft please get it together and fix this? I haven't been able to use my keyboard in over a month. I'm not going to send it in, as per the suggested fix, since it was working literally right before the most recent update. This is not a hardware problem, it's a software problem. This is incredibly frustrating. I will probably just roll back to the previous version, as I don't see this getting fixed anytime son.

This has been happening to me since October when I updated. Each time I went to "recover" and went back to the previous settings and it works again. It's no weird. It lets me type in my first password, then when I go to put in my PIN to unlock my Comp NOTHING. Have to use on screen keyboard or USB Keyboard to get in and the recovery. Drivers for keyboards do NOTHING I uninstall em and reboot and its right back to "3 unknown devices" Pretty sad its CLEAR AS DAY the updates are causing the issue but because people out of warranty it's not covered to get help! Like it's a software issue not a device problem, not a user error, not a part failure. Just help!

    Hi Greg,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear that your keyboard is not working after the update on your Surface device. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. If updating the drivers doesn’t work, try uninstalling them:
    2. In the Device Manager, right-click on your keyboard under the Keyboards section and select Uninstall device.
    3. After uninstalling, restart your Surface. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

If possible, try connecting an external USB keyboard to your Surface to determine if the issue is specific to the Surface Keyboard or connected keyboard.

Press the Caps and Fn keys on your Surface Type Cover or Keyboard several times to check whether the LED lights turn on.

If the LED lights turn on, your problem may be with Windows and not the device itself. The next step is to reset your Surface. Here's how:

    1. Go to Start  , enter reset in the taskbar, then select Reset this PC .
    2. Select Reset this PC > Keep my files > Cloud download and follow the rest of the prompts shown on screen. For more detailed steps and a video, see Restore or reset Surface for Windows .

If the LED lights don't turn on, there might be a hardware issue. To verify in UEFI, do the following:

    1. Turn off your Surface and wait 10 seconds.
    2. Press and hold the Volume Up button—and at the same time, press and release the Power button.
    3. You'll see the logo screen on your screen. Continue to hold the Volume Up button. Release the button when the UEFI screen appears.
    4. Press the up and down arrow keys to change what is selected on the left side menu to check if the keys work or not.

Hopefully, one of these steps will resolve your keyboard issue! Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions.

    Your Sincerely
