    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I am aware that you’re experiencing sudden drops in FPS while gaming on your Surface Laptop Go. There could be several reasons why you are experiencing sudden low FPS while gaming on your Surface Laptop Go. One possible reason could be that your laptop is overheating, which can cause the CPU and GPU to throttle down and reduce performance. Another reason could be that there are too many background processes running, which can consume system resources and cause performance issues. I am here to help and let us work on this together.

To address these issues, you can try the following steps:

    1. Close any unnecessary background processes and applications that may be consuming system resources. You can use the Task Manager to identify and close these processes.
    2. Ensure that your laptop is not overheating by checking the temperature of your CPU and GPU.
    3. Check any pending updates available and install them. Also check optional updates available.
    4. Update your graphics driver to the latest version in Device manager.
    5. it's important to ensure that your device is secure and protected from any potential threats. You can use Windows Defender to scan your device for any malware or spyware. Additionally, you can enable the built-in Windows Firewall to block any unauthorized access to your device.
    6. Manually update the drivers and firmware for your Surface.
      1. Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop.
      2. Then click the link next to Surface Laptop 2 then click Download on the next page.
      3. Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
      4. After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, kindly give answers to the following questions so we can further isolate your issue and formulate appropriate troubleshooting steps.

    • Is this happening on a specific game app? Is yes, what game app you're referring to?
    • What build version of Windows your device is currently running?
    • Would you mind sending a screenshot of the device's performance in task manager when this problem occurs?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
