    Hi Norma,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that your Surface Laptop 1 isn't turning on. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the issue:

    • Attach the PSU, confirm the tip is lit, and disconnect all extra peripherals from the device. The battery may be drained and unable to turn on the Surface. If the tip doesn't light, there may be an issue with the PSU. A connected accessory or monitor may be causing the problem.
    • Wake with hot keys. Press the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B. This restarts the graphics display driver. If the device was stuck on a black screen, this may resolve the issue.
    • Force a shutdown and restart your Surface: Force a shutdown and restart your Surface - Microsoft Support

If the tip is lit and device could not be forced to restart, there is likely a hardware problem with the Surface device. Because this model has been discontinued, out of warranty support and service for such models is no longer available. We appreciate your commitment to Surface and apologize for any inconvenience.

    Your Sincerely
