Screen sharing between Windows 11 and Windows 10

I want to share a windows 11 screen to a windows 10 screen. I was previously instructed to do as detailed in this link.

The problem is that the field I'm supposed to handle on the laptop with Windows 10 is closed (Cannot be edited/changed) and even though I connected the laptop to electricity - I can't open this field.

What am I doing wrong?

Hello, I'd like to do the opposite :

I have a spare windows 10 laptop that I'd like to use as second screen for my Windows 11 laptop, would it be possible?

    Hi ilanb100,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you.

I am aware of your desire in projecting your Windows 11 screen to another Windows 10 device. I am here to help and let us work on this together. Allow me to ask a question.

    • Would you mind letting us know which particular Surface model runs Windows 10 and Windows 11?

You can use the built-in option called Projecting to this PC to mirror your Windows 11 screen to a Windows 10 device. Here are the steps to follow:

    1. On your Windows 11 laptop, select Start > Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.
    2. Under Add the “Wireless Display” optional feature to project to this PC, select Optional features.
    3. Next to Add an optional feature, select View features, then enter “wireless display”.
    4. Select the check box next to Wireless Display from the list of results, select Next, then select Install.
    5. After “Wireless Display” is installed, select Back to manage your projecting preferences on the Projecting to this PC page in Settings.
    6. On the Windows 10 laptop, launch the Wireless Display app by entering “wireless display” in the search box on the taskbar, and selecting Wireless Display in the list of results.
    7. On the device you’re projecting from, go to the screen mirroring settings (sometimes called cast settings), and select your Windows 10 laptop to connect to it.

For more details, see Screen mirroring and projecting to your PC - Microsoft Support.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
