I have a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard that I'm trying to connect to my Surface Pro.

This is the repost of a previous post because the answer involved pushing a button to initiate the bluetooth on the keyboard that does not exist...

I have a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard that I'm trying to connect to my Surface Pro. The keyboard does not have a bluetooth button, a power switch, or FN key. It has a CTRL, Windows key (that looks like the Windows 10 logo) and ALT key. There is no label on the keyboard. It has Microsoft etched in the upper right corner of the keyboard but it is the same color as the keyboad (it is not white like many of the ones I have found online) It takes two AAA batteries in a compartment that is on the bottom, in the middle of the top edge.

I have read all the threads I can find on this issue and they include pushing a button that does not exist or a key combination that does not exist.

Thanks in advance for the help

    Hello TG Labrecque,

Thank you so much for the response and I appreciate the effort and time you put into this. Based on the photo you have attached; it seems like this is a Wireless Desktop 900. See this link: Wireless Desktop 900 | Microsoft Accessories.

If so, I would like to ask, when you purchase this keyboard is there a bundled mouse with it? or is there a USB dongle?

It seems like this is not a Bluetooth keyboard but rather it has a USB dongle that you should use to be able to connect this keyboard to your Surface.

Hoping to hear back your confirmation.

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.

    Rolando

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunitly with Window's key and "C" did not get the keyboard to light up. As an aside the batteries are good as the board does light up with a solid green light when you first put the batteries in.

Per your request I have attached a photo of the top and bottom of the keyboard.

Let me know how best to proceed

    Hello TG Labrecque,

Thank you so much for posting in Microsoft Community.

I appreciate you raising this concern to us, and I understand that you’re having trouble connecting your Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard to your Surface Pro. You got me here: we'll isolate this issue together. Before anything else, allow me to ask a question:

    • May I know what specific model your Bluetooth Keyboard is?
    • Is it possible if you could take a photo of the keyboard you are using?

However, if you are certain that your keyboard is a Bluetooth-enabled model, you can try the following steps to connect it to your Surface Pro:

    1. Turn on your Surface device and go to Settings.
    2. Select Devices and then Bluetooth & other devices.
    3. Turn on Bluetooth if it is not already on.
    4. Press and hold the Windows key and C key on your keyboard simultaneously for a few seconds until the light on the keyboard starts flashing.
    5. Your keyboard should now appear in the list of available devices on your Surface Pro. Select it to connect.

Please let me know how it goes and hopefully it helps!

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.
