Hi KSDB7415,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.
Windows 11 in S mode is a version of Windows 11 that's streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing. You cannot install third-party software such as downloading software from other websites or using conventional software installer. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S Mode is free and you would end up with Windows 11 Home, however, if you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 11 in S mode.
If you want to switch out of S mode, you may follow below instructions.
- On your PC running Windows 11 in S mode, open Settings > System > Activation.
- In the Switch to Windows 11 Prosection, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link that appears there.)
- On the Switch out of S mode(or similar)****page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.
I wish you all the best and keep safe!
Kind regards,
Lavenia
