Hello, this is Kevin Park, who has a Surface Pro 7.

As I need to get a rechargeable USB-C mouse for my Surface, is having a USB-C receiver good or Bluetooth?

    Hi KevinPark,

A mouse with a USB adapter does have latency advantages over a Bluetooth mouse, but these advantages are negligible if you're not playing games.

However, I think that even if the Bluetooth mouse will have a certain delay, there should not be a random loss of response, which depends on whether the problem is specific to this mouse or is related to the abnormal Bluetooth function of the Surface.

To determine the source of the problem, you may still need to do some tests, such as pairing the Bluetooth mouse with other laptops to check if the lost response problem will occur again.

    Hello,

So, USB-C dongle/receiver mouse responds better than a Bluetooth mouse, right, as a Bluetooth one does not respond right away?

It’s because it is annoying that my Bluetooth mouse doesn’t respond, sometimes, and it needs to be turned off and so on.

    Hello KevinPark,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I personally prefer using a Bluetooth mouse over a USB receiver because it offers wireless freedom, portability, and the convenience of using one mouse across multiple devices.

But the advantage of USB is low latency and maximum security. So a USB-C mouse with a receiver is also a good choice. This is especially beneficial for tasks that require high precision and responsiveness, such as gaming.

For Surface devices, I would recommend theMicrosoft Surface Arc Mouse. This mice use Bluetooth connectivity and offer a variety of features such as ultra-portable design, simple on/off, customizable features and long battery life.

But if you already have a mouse that you like, I believe that it will work on your Surface, you can check with your sales representative for compatibility.

In general, both options have their advantages. If you're looking for a universal mouse and value the convenience of wireless connectivity, a Bluetooth mouse might be a better choice. However, if you need a mouse for more sophisticated tasks and have a USB-C port to spare, then the USB-C mouse may be your first choice.
