I bought a Surface Laptop 7 in August of this year 2024, however i didnt know what an ARM processor was at the time. It is misleading. Anyways nearly 80% of programs I want to use are incompatible. I want a surface laptop 7 but with the 64x processor INTEL. Is there anyway I can trade it in for that or would the standard manufactory warranty cover it. Please help.. I love surface laptops and would not want to return it, just replaced with one that works.

Me too....maybe we should make this a movement!

I purchased the Surface Pro 11 a few weeks ago for my new business. I was very excited to have the latest Microsoft product, right up to the point where I couldn't VPN into my clients computer. I then tried using Remote Data Access and was informed that Sage is not compliant with the ARM64 system. How infuriating, there is no warning when purchasing that this laptop isn't able to support remote data access or VPN. For anyone working from home, this is a necessity.

I purchased through Amazon and they have agreed that I can return it but how frustrating to have to go through that process.

I have lost all confidence in Microsoft products now.

I was excited for my new laptop. As a Microsoft Full Stack Developer - I splurged on this now boat anchor.

    Arm64 doesn't support Microsoft SQL Server! That's a joke!

My laptop is for sale - cheap!

    Hello, G_J_T.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

We appreciate your interest in Surface products.

It is true that there are many applications that have compatibility issues with the ARM processor system architecture. I understand that you would like to avoid these compatibility issues by using an Intel CPU equipped device with an X64 system.

In this regard, as community support, allow me to share the following information with you:

The Surface Laptop 7 uses Snapdragon processors primarily for higher performance and lower power consumption, as well as the ability to enhance the use of 5G signals. But there are significant differences between the ARM architecture decided by the Snapdragon processor and the X64 architecture.

At the moment Microsoft has no plans to release the Surface Laptop 7 with Intel processors for the time being. But future plans are still worth looking forward to, and many compatibility issues that users have encountered with the ARM architecture have been noted.

For any inconvenience or dissatisfaction with your experience, Community Support will support you in requesting a refund. The refund period is usually two months after purchase.

To continue using the device, you will need to check with the developer of the application to see if they have plans to release a version for the ARM architecture. Getting the right version of the application can also help you avoid many compatibility issues.

This is all the information I can share with you about ARM processors.

We can still expect improvements in the future and there will be more applications compatible with ARM.

Thank you for your use and understanding of Surface products.

I wish you a happy Christmas Eve in advance.

    Best Regards.
