Military Discount Program

All, I recently bought a Surface Pro 9. I logged into my MS account and verified my veteran status. I chose my bundle, click the button to apply the discount. The discount was confirmed, no issue. I then went to a third-party military website. Once my veteran status was verified, I applied the discount, no issues but had a slightly different price. I then logged into MS store, chose the exact same Surface Pro 9 configuration without a military discount. I was surprised to see that the non-military discount price was LOWER than both sites that offer military discounts. I contacted a MS sales associate by phone, told him I was military ordered the exact same Surface Pro 9 system and got another price. This time he added a 5% business discount. After all discounts, and refunds the price is almost exactly the same as ordering as any old Joe off the street. See screen shots below:

Mitchell, thanks for your explanation. I agree with you that one of the machines on the Military discount screenshot has a three-year option. On that same screenshot is another machine with a two-year option. The totals weren't added but when you add them the total is $1577.99 which is even HIGHER than the three-year option.

To summarize, the non-military, two-year machine is $1527. The two military options are $1577 for two years, and $1543 for three years. I have already talked to the sales department and still don't understand how a military option with the exact same configuration is more expensive than a non-military. However, I do appreciate your quick response, and attempt to answer my questions. I've already purchased my new PRO 9 and am happy with it. I just wanted to point out what looks like a disconnect in your military discount program.

    Sincerely,

    Anthony

I appreciate the quick response. Here are the screen shots:

    With Military discount:

    Without discount:

While on the military discount page I had very limited bundle options, i.e., couldn't get same color (platinum, sapphire) pro9 with the same color keyboard. Although you say above the site states it will apply the discount to select products, the system seemed to apply the 10%. In any event, it never said it didn't, which would also be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Hi Surface Pro 9-Military,

    Thank you for the screenshot.

Looking at the screenshots alone, the prices involved in the two screenshots are indeed similar, but let me point out that the product included in the first screenshot is not the same as the product in the second screenshot:

The purchase in the previous screenshot was for three years of Microsoft Extended Hardware Service, while in the second screenshot it was for two years.

Under normal circumstances, a three-year model is definitely more expensive than a two-year model, so after taking advantage of the military discount, the price will be about the same as the average user.

I think this may be the reason for the similar price, but let me kindly point out that we only provide Surface support services for users, and if you have some issues with the sale price, I still recommend that you contact our sales experts, who should be able to more intuitively introduce you to the military discount. Or help you choose your favorite products.

You can contact through the chat box in the page, or you can try to make a phone call:
