I have the Surface Thunderbolt Dock 4, and it does not work properly with the Surface Pro 11. I found 3 ARM drivers on the Microsoft support page and 1 of them stops during install and says it only works with Surface X and Surface Pro 9. The wireless keyboard and mouse work with the dock, but the monitors and audio do not. The driver that won't load is SurfaceThunderbolt4DockSEMMforDock_Win10_Win11_arm64_19041_23.033.35295.0

I get the same error on my Surface laptop with X Elite. I have a surface dock 2 and have been getting issues with the monitors. It only sometimes detects the monitors.

I am using the surface dock 2 with the Surface Pro (ARM, Elite) - I have no issues working with an external monitor.

However, I am getting a warning that my device is charging slow, and I should use a higher wattage charger.

Has anybody seen this? The dock power should be far higher than the 39W that the surface says it requires

    Hi JimmaP,

The Surface Pro 11 uses "smart charging" to protect the lithium battery life. (Hover your mouse over the battery/power icon in the system tray and you should see this.) This stops the charging at about 80%. My Surface Pro 8 also does this. If you go to Settings>System>Power & Battery, you should see at the top of the page "Smart charging is on. You can read about this at the adjacent link "Learn More."

If you are going to be traveling with the Surface Pro and want to charge to 100%, you can turn 100% on by going to the "Surface" App and click on "Charge to 100%" under "Battery & charging." The Surface App says this will automatically turn off after a few days. (I do not know why this is not included on the Settings page; perhaps because this is device specific.)

When I first got my Surface Pro 11, it took several days before Smart Charging was engaged

    Hello josh Craig,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

To recommend the right Dock for the Surface Pro 11, I recommend Microsoft's Surface Dock 2 or Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock:

Buy Microsoft Surface Dock 2 – Microsoft Surface

Buy Surface Thunderbolt™ 4 Dock (Ports, Compatibility, Price) - Microsoft Store

They can meet your external monitor requirements.

Both docking stations are tailored to the Surface and have the best compatibility:

Identify your Surface Dock and features - Microsoft Support

However, if you are planning to use a third-party docking station, then I recommend that you do not buy it for the time being to avoid wasting money due to incompatibility issues.

    Best Regards,

Mitchell | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
