Remove Keyboard from "Safely remove Hardware"

4. Click on the drop-down menu next to the "Surface Type Cover" entry and select "Hide icon and notifications".
5. Click "OK" to save the changes.

This will remove the "Eject Surface HID Keyboard" entry from the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" button in the tray on your Surface Pro 9.

thank you for your answer. I have a Surface Pro 9 with an ARM processor.

I do not want to get rid of the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in tray. I know how to do that. I want it to appear when I attach USB drives but only then. I want to get rid of the keyboard entry that is unnecessary and makes the icon appear always.

What version of Windows is your Surface running on? Windows 10 or Windows 11?

For now, kindly try these steps below and see how it goes:

1. Right-click on the taskbar and select "Taskbar settings."
2. Scroll down to the "Notification area" section and click on "Select which icons appear on the taskbar."
3. Find the "Windows Explorer" option and toggle it off.
