surface pro - obsolete

Hi,

I purchased a Surface Pro for several hundred $ just a couple of years ago.

How is it fair that Microsoft can make the new Windows 11 not compatible with my device hardware?

It has Intel i5, 8 GB RAM, and comes with Windows 10 Pro when purchased.

Hard to understand how a firm started by Bill Gates could be making its devices obsolete this fast.

Thanks for reading.!

Exactly my point.! A product released 5 years ago is now considered obsolete.

If the product was sold for even 2 years that makes buyers like us have an obsolete product in 3 years, which doesn’t make me feel good as a consumer.

But thank you for your quick response.! Really appreciate it.

Hi Barb, thanks for your quick reply.

I chose the wrong version on my post.

My surface pro is 5th gen.

It was purchased from Microsoft in 2019.

    But it still is obsolete

Lots of customers have the same opinion. Microsoft states that Windows 10 will be supported until October 2025. You might find Can I install Windows 11 on my PC even if Microsoft says it's 'incompatible'? [Ask ZDNet] | ZDNet interesting (but anything you do is at your own risk and there is no support here for this).

SP 5th generation was released in 2017.. So it is 5 years old. Microsoft decided that 8th generation Intel chips and above would support Windows 11. So the SP5, which has a 7th generation chip, along with many others from other vendors is not qualified.

Surface Pro 3 went on sale on 2014 - 8 years ago. 8 Years is a long time in computer life. If you only bought it a few years ago, it was already discontinued.
