Why did you assume she was using Notepad++?
How do I find a lost unsaved Notepad?
I've been using Notepad for a few months now, but my computer had an "emergency" restart/update, and it totally disappeared. I need these notes, they're very important. How or where can I find it?

2022-12-08T23:27:24+00:00 Hello Caitlin O'Rourke,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community. I understand how important those notes for you.
Notepad does not have an auto-save function indeed. So, it may be difficult to recover unsaved notes. But you can try checking from the temporary files on your device and see if those contents have been saved temporarily. But also take note that it's not a guarantee you could get it back since your device was restarted and shut down. Checking it on the temporary files is worth a try though. Here's how:
- On the Search box, type %AppData% and press Enter. You should be prompted to the Roaming folder.
- From there, type .txt in the search bar and look for Notepad files, and see if you could still recover the unsaved notes.
Otherwise, open your File Explorer, then navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\backup.
I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. I'll wait for your response.
Regards,
StevenK

What exact app are you referring to? Do you mean the simple Notepad app that comes with Windows or perhaps OneNote? Steven somehow thinks you are using Notepad++
