Downloading apps on surface

Hi all. Im new to surface pro and really struggling with basics so please bear with me. i'm used to a different version of windows, and office, and also am more familiar with ipads as a tablet experience.

I can't seem to 'find' apps that I can download that were routine use on ipad, it only seems to 'find' entertainment.

it's not that i can't download, it's that i can't actually find the apps … 

help!!!

    You might want to check with the app developer or your bank if there is an app that they provide that will work on Windows 10. Based on what you mentioned, the only options are to get it via Android. The page where you are trying to get the app might only show for the Android version. May I know the name of the app and the link of their page? So we will know the next steps to proceed. I will send you a private message if you prefer not mentioning it here in the forums.

    On the Surface tablet, go to your bank's web site again and see if they have a login option on the main page.  Those apps are for smaller devices and usually banks allow access via the web browser itself with regular computers - since the Surface Pro 7 is actually a regular, Windows 10 computer.

    So, for you, an app is really not needed.

    As for the Store app - that is the shopping bag icon you see on the taskbar.

    thanks janette. I can't work out how to reply private message. 

    I have been trying to work it out though, and looks like the surface, although a tablet, doesn't work like ipads in the sense of apps  … that I should have investigated more, as I can't download google play and get apps... that's an 'android' thing, not a 'windows' thing. 

    I'm too old for this :) … it's just the Halifax bank, and they have an app via apple or google play, so I guess that's the problem (that surface is not 'android' whatever that is). 

    I think i'm beginning to 'get' that the surface isn't quite what I thought it was.. but that's ok, i'm still enjoying the use of one note and pen, so it's still quite amazing to me :)

    I can find the store... Its just that a search doesn't come up with an app. I'm not trying to find an unknown entity, it's a popular bank, and when i go to the bank's home page, i can download an app but it only gives me phone as an android option. So im not sure what im doing wrong or if I have to find app through something other than Microsoft store. i'm very confused. (and i am new to it all … trying youtube microsoft turorials but can't get answer.. because the store is there, i can search on it, i'm just not looking for 'netflix' or 'facebook'.. i'm trying to find my local bank.
