Is the new surface laptop compatible with current surface pro set ups

Hello Community,

I'm currently using a Surface Pro 7 and 2 x monitors via surface dock 2, this exact set up is currently being used on 4 different desks at 2 different locations, 8 x surface pros , 8 docks and 16 monitors in total!

I'm currently looking to upgrade from a surface pro to one of the new laptops as I require more computing power and performance than my current surface pro can handle.

My question is?

Can I connect a new surface laptop to our current set ups to access multiple screens while working at one of the desks,

our desks aren't allocated to individuals its more about the required role for each location,

so i could be on any desk on any given day.

Thankyou in advance for any insight into my situation.

Adam

    Hi Adam,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

Yes, the Surface Laptop 7 is compatible with the Surface Dock 2, which means you can connect it to your current set up and access multiple screens while working at any of the desks.

Like Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 7 can connect two monitors via Surface Dock 2, which supports a maximum refresh rate of 60hz and a resolution of 3840*2160. Troubleshoot connecting Surface to an external display - Microsoft Support

If you consider the Surface Pro 11, the maximum refresh rates and resolutions of two monitors connected via Surface Dock 2 are as follows:

Additionally, you may need to update the firmware on your Surface Dock 2 to ensure compatibility with the new Surface Laptop. I hope this helps!

    Your Sincerely
