My surface go stuck on a restart loop

My Surface Go Model 1943 has been stuck on a boot loop. I've been following the guides for performing the USB recovery, but I get stuck on the step to boot into UEFI. Every video guy is with someone using the buttons on top of the screen, mine doesn't have those buttons, they're only on the keyboard. I've tried following guides such as pressing the volume down or up after booting to access UEFI, but no matter what it won't boot into UEFI. It just keeps restarting over and over. Every guide shows a short delay between the power button being pressed, and the Windows logo appearing, but for me, it is immediately after I press the power button. When I let go of the volume up or down button after the logo appears immediately, nothing happens. The same goes when I hold it down instead. It just keeps restarting until the battery dies or I force it to shut down

    Hi Ricardo A_42

You can use the USB-C port to install the recovery image. It’s crucial to extract the recovery image correctly, so please follow the instructions above. If the recovery image you downloaded doesn’t work, try downloading a lower version. Once the installation is complete, you can update the device and get the latest version. Make sure you use 16GB or 32GB USB-C flash drive. or an adaptor for USB-C.

In the UEFI, click on boot configuration and ensure that you first boot the USB storage. Then, insert the USB and follow the prompt to select your language. Ensure that the charger is connected while you perform the recovery.

Thank you for your understanding. Please let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Christopher.

    Hi Ricardo A_42

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

According to the description you posted, it appears that you are experiencing an issue with your Surface Go device. Even after attempting to install the recovery image, the device keeps restarting in a loop. This issue could be caused by the USB or SSD not being detected.

Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Disconnect any external devices or accessories that are connected to your Surface Go.
    2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to force a shutdown.
    3. Press and hold the volume up button and the power button at the same time for 15 seconds, then release both buttons.
    4. If you see the Surface logo, release the buttons and wait for the device to boot up.
    5. If you don't see the Surface logo, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the device, then press and hold the volume down button and the power button at the same time for 15 seconds, then release both buttons.
    6. If you see the Surface logo, release the buttons and wait for the device to boot up.
    7. If you still can't access the UEFI, possible the recovery image is not extract properly.

To reset the Surface device using the recovery image.

To Download USB Recovery Image - http://aka.ms/sri

    REQUIREMENTS:

To ensure compatibility with your Surface device, it is recommended to use a USB flash drive with a minimum storage capacity of 16 GB to 32 GB and format it to FAT32. If the storage capacity exceeds 32 GB, it is not possible to format it to FAT32 as only XFAT and NTFS options are available. Please note that if a USB flash drive is formatted to XFAT or NTFS, it will not be detected on your Surface device.

NOTE: Creating a recovery drive will erase all existing files that are stored on the SSD drive. Make sure to transfer any important data on your USB flash drive to another storage device before you proceed.

Once the download is complete, create a folder on your desktop and rename it to ‘recovery’. Extract the recovery image to the folder you created on your desktop. After the extraction is complete, select all the files in the folder and copy and paste them directly to your USB flash drive. Do not copy the folder directly to the USB. Once the copying is done, remove the USB and connect it to your Surface.

When you are ready, please click this link Creating and using a USB recovery drive for Surface - Microsoft Support to follow the step on how to use the recovery image.

I hope this helps resolve your issue. Let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Kind regards,

    Christopher.

Yep, I've confirmed the USB A port is not working. Does that mean there's no hope for my laptop since it's stuck restart looping? or can it be saved with the USB C port?

I'm confused about steps 3-6, Am I supposed to hold the volume up or down and the power button for 15 seconds, or am I supposed to hold it until the Surface logo appears? Whenever I hold the buttons down for 15 seconds, the laptop just shuts off after 10 seconds. And like I said, the surface logo appears immediately after I press the power button, should I spend a couple of seconds holding onto the volume up or down button or let go of it immediately? I saw how you said that my USB drive might not be getting detected, so I tried using a USB A to USB C adapter and my USB drive started to get detected. I thought maybe my drive just didn't fit so I tried with another USB drive I had, and it was the same problem. Can I use the USB C port to go into UEFI or is it just the USB A port?
