With Internet Explorer going away and being replaced with Microsoft Edge, will there be an option to open SharePoint folders via MS Explorer while using MS Edge (I saw a post from 2013, but it wasn't helpful)?

I need to do the same thing and with the use of Notepad I achieved this. Not quick but it works without any specialised IT knowledge.

I went to the document library I wanted to open in File Explorer.
Using the COG went to Library Settings and in here I could see the Web Address, which I highlighted and copied. I could not copy from the address bar as it converts all the spaces to "%20"

Inside Notepad I pasted this web address and it will look something like this:

    http://Yoursharepointtype.with.its.address.here/sites/sitename/possiblesubsitename/Shared Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx

I then deleted the last 2 items: /Forms/AllItems.aspx

I then copied the remains, opened File Explorer and pasted this into address bar and hit return.
    This open what I needed.

Windows Explorer requires IE. IE isn't being replaced by Edge, but rather deprecated with a likely future removal which would be quite some time away. You should instead use OneDrive to sync libraries.

So far, Microsoft Edge does not support opening document libraries with Open with File Explorer.

The Microsoft Edge browser is designed to be periodically updated. Make sure you have the latest version as features can change or be added.

Currently, Internet Explorer is the only browser that can open with Explorer.

    Hi,

i have solved this with the "Internet Explorer Mode" and an XML lying on a webserver.

Did not work in the beginning - but some patch must have fixed this.
