Anyone know where to get a battery replaced on a Surface Pro 3?

My surface pro 3 states 99%, not charging. If I unplug it, it dies immediately. Won't start without adapter. Tried all the reset options, deleting the driver for the battery, multiple times. No luck. So I assume the battery is dead. I need to replace it and am looking for a place to do that. I found the battery's for about 40 bucks on amazon and ebay. I am afraid I will break the screen if I try myself. Love the surface pro! My original Surface pro 1, the original, battery still works! I think the surface pro 3 battery is defective. Hopefully the charging circuit is not the fault!

Any one know a place that changes the battery cheap?....Thanks...Keith

Thanks for the info, I can buy a used sp3 for about 450 in great shape on ebay. If I knew I could get a sp4 maybe. I was looking for someone that must do a good job replacing the battery for a reasonable cost. . May try it myself. All of the people with sp3 battery dead issues really points to defective batterys in the sp3, something Microsoft has not addressed. I kept my sp3 on a charger most of it's life to extend the battery life since I knew it was not easily serviced. My premature death after 2 years really confirms for me the defective nature of the battery.

Since these are not waterproof, the reason they sealed up and stopped having removable batteries on cell phones these days, I fail to see why the designers of the surface pro's haven't put some screws in the back for battery or fan replacement.

You will find lots of others with the same issue who have posted in this forum.

The battery isn't user replaceable and even Microsoft won't replace a battery.

They will exchange for a refurbished unit at the current out of warranty cost.

It's been around $450US and some folks report that they are getting SP4 refurbs

    to replace SP3's. Contact support
