I am still only getting about 4 to 6hrs of battery life out of my surface unless its in stand by, then i get 11?
Surface Book 2 Battery life
Hello, I recently bought a Surface Book 2 for University.
Everything on my surface book 2 seems to work perfectly fine, no glitches and no problems with the screen or keyboard. However, I've realised that my battery is dying incredibly fast whilst doing, what I consider, simple tasks. I basically roam the internet and watch a few youtube videos here and there, since uni hasn't started, I'm just using my laptop for entertainment. I've done quite a bit of research on the SB 2 and I know for most people the battery lasts around 9-10 hrs, which is one of the reasons I bought the laptop, whereas my SB 2 only lasts approximately 4-5hrs whilst just using the internet.
I was wondering if anyone is experiencing the same thing and if someone has found a solution because I live in England, so there isn't a store I can really go to. I would have to send it back for repairs... which would take a while and defies having the laptop for uni.

2018-09-01T13:45:25+00:00 I've run the surface diagnostics test and everything came back fine and so did the troubleshooting. They found nothing wrong.
Also for the programs that have used up my battery, there are no odd apps that I have not used.
here is the report from the command prompt:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>powercfg/energy

Analysis complete.

2018-09-01T01:30:12+00:00 Hi amarildoguga,
This kind of issue may require us to check several components and try a number of troubleshooting steps. First, please download and run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT) to ensure that your device is running the best driver and firmware updates. The SDT will also check for underlying software issues that could be causing the short battery life of your device. After running the SDT, perform a forced shutdown and restart the device. Press the power button for 10 seconds or until the screen goes off. On the next restart, the updates will be applied and the software will be loaded properly.
Next, check the power mode that your Surface currently uses. When connected to a power supply, the recommended mode to use is Best performance. To save battery usage when the Surface is running on battery power, use Recommended or Battery Saver. You can also use the Power Troubleshooter to check for further issues with the power settings. Just go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot> Power > Run the troubleshooter.
We can dig deeper and check if the issue is related to app usage. From Settings, go to System > Battery > See which apps are affecting your battery life. This will show you a list of the apps that use the battery and each app's consumption. If you see any that you are not using, close the apps to extend your battery life. If the app in question starts up automatically without you launching it, open Task Manager (Ctrl+ Shift + Esc) and go to the Startuptab. Select the app and choose Disable.
Please also run a battery report so we can better understand what drains the battery of your Surface. Click on the Start button, type cmdor commandon the search bar. As soon as the command icon pops up, right click on it and select the option to Run as administrator. This would lead you to a black screen with a blinking cursor. On that screen, type powercfg /energy and then hit Enter. This would run for about 60 seconds and would then give you a result. using File Explorer, navigate to the location of the report and open the file. Paste the results on this thread.
If the suggestions above are not successful in resolving the issue, we would have to try other ways. Please update the post so I can check on the status of your case. I will be notified when you reply and I'll get back to you the soonest I can.
Regards.
