Is there a sitemap file naming convention?

I submitted my sitemap with a file named "https://www.contexxia.com/sitemap_index.xml". The file contains a sitemap index created exactly the way sitemap.org describes it. I didn't get a problem when submitting to Google. However, Bing shows an error and is not able to read my file. I was wondering if Bing looks for a particular naming convention.
