Bing Video no longer works

Split from this thread.

I thought it was just me.  In the last 3 or 4 days, I can do Bing searches for Web, Image, Maps, News, & Explore.  Videos no longer works.  I am re-directed to the default Bing search page with just a pretty picture of flying birds and random unrelated videos at the bottom of the page.  I though there was an upgrade or technical problem with Bing, and I'd wait a few days for them to fix it.  But the problem persists.

BTW:  My browser is Firefox.  Explorer began seriously screwing up my PC two years ago, so I switched to Firefox.

My problem solved the easy way!!

Go to Bing search page.  To the right, midway down, is a small cog which is Preferences.  It isn't labeled but shows that when you hover your mouse over it.

That will take you to Bing "Settings" page.  Click Videos in the search header.  Then I clicked "Use Default Settings" which put a check mark in the box for " Browse and view videos on a secure connection.  Non-HTTPS embed videos will not play inside Bing." Maybe you can do this manually but this is just as fast.

And now I can get my videos in Bing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow it got unchecked.  Maybe when I was nosing around to see what settings were available.  As they say: "My bad."

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.  Usually I am searching from a different Bing search template with the same search headers as your picture.

When I choose "videos", Bing search takes me to the page in your picture.

But then, if you type in a subject like grumpy cat, it does nothing.  If I type grumpy cat videos, it takes me to the other Bing search template which also has the same search headers, but displays regular web items for grumpy cat videos.

BUT if I click videos, it takes me right back to the window in your picture!!!!  If you're having a hard time understanding this Groundhog Day cycle, so am I.

I cannot believe there are only 3 of us experiencing this.  My workaround is to switch to Google to search for videos or just go to Youtube from my bookmark.  Bing will let me search "cat videos" from the web header, BUT if I choose one of the selections, you guessed it, I'm taken back to your picture.  It's like I am forbidden by Bing.

I've used Bing for videos thousands of times previously.  Not like I'm a newbie.

    Thanks again!

But I am not at a comfort level to do that.  I tried to follow your steps but somehow I messed up and stopped.

I am upgrading to Windows 10 in a few days.  Is it possible that the Bing video issue will right itself with the new Win10 install?  A few days ago I did a disk scan at boot-up, along with a full virus scan with Avast.  Windows defender also hasn't found anything.

Step 1) Start > Type Msconfig

    Select Boot tab

    Check Safe Boot

    Check Networking

    Click Apply, Ok

Reboot and you'll enter Safe Mode with Networking

Download the following tool and run a full scan

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

When finished with the scan, go back to Start > Msconfig

    Uncheck Safe Boot

    Click Apply, Ok

Reboot and Windows will load normally.  Retry Videos

Step 2) If issue persists, clean boot the pc to determine if a third-party app is interfering.  Follow the steps here to clean boot.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Remember to reset the computer to restart normally when finished.

Check your add-ons and I'd advise contacting Firefox Support

    Hello,

Are you saying you do not see Video or Maps in the menu on Bing.com?

Please provide a screenshot of the issue you are experiencing.
