Microsoft Rewards – Account Still Restricted, No Real Help from Support

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having an issue with my Microsoft Rewards account being temporarily restricted, and after opening multiple support tickets, I’m honestly out of patience.

I have never used bots, macros, or any kind of automation. All my searches are done manually, following the rules outlined in the Microsoft Services Agreement. Despite that, my account was restricted, and no one at support seems willing or able to properly investigate the case.

I’ve been told to “wait 48 hours” repeatedly, and that the issue is “being handled” in another ticket. But in reality, nothing is ever resolved — I just keep getting generic, automated replies, and every new ticket is immediately closed with the same copy-pasted response.

It’s frustrating that a company the size of Microsoft relies on what seems to be bots or scripted messages, instead of actually reading and solving the user’s problem.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a way to resolve it? I'm open to suggestions — I just want the restriction lifted so I can finally redeem my points, which I earned fairly.

Thanks in advance.

Since the beginning of April, my account has been temporarily restricted, and I’ve opened several support tickets. In every case, I receive exactly the same automated responses, such as:

    • That “non-genuine” behavior was detected, even though I only use Bing manually.
    • That I should wait 48 hours and continue browsing normally (it's been weeks now...).
    • That my request is duplicated and will be closed in favor of another ticket (but there’s no way to respond to old tickets, and they don't even show up on the website).
    • That if I need help, I should open another ticket... which will then be closed with the same copied response.

I’ve tried explaining everything — that I’ve never used bots, that I follow the rules, and that I just want my case to be looked at by a real person. But it seems like no one actually reads what we write. I even posted in this community, and yet nothing changes.

The situation is becoming ridiculous for something as simple as using the points I’ve earned fairly. Microsoft really needs to improve its Rewards support.

If anyone has been able to contact a real person or had this situation resolved, I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I'm having the same issue, I've been a rewards member since 2018 and never had this issue in the past. I tried reaching out to support but got no help, I'm considering selling my Series X and going somewhere else because I've done nothing wrong to warrant this. You would think I'd get banned years ago if I was abusing the program, I've been using it the same way for the last 6-7 years.

I have the same issue been using Bing rewards/edge search never a problem. All of a sudden same issue is happening to me. I have contacted support same as you ; they never solve the issue but closes the ticket. I am thinking Microsoft doesn't value good customers/users who never violate policy- yet they are penalizing those users. I am ready to move on and continue my migration to apple products which never seem to give an issue. I think I am done with Bing rewards/Microsoft and will take my wallet and usage elsewhere. 4 wks in Bing jail and I have never done anything wrong or violated their policies.

yes, you are not alone, many others are experiencing the same issues with Microsoft Bing Rewards, I have been "temp. suspended" due to what they call automatic searches. Microsoft is making all this up to deny people their earned rewards. MS no longer wants to pay out, but they are devious in their behavior. If they had any decency or ethics, they would just end the program. But instead, they are making up behavior stories to deny legitimate users the rewards I gave up and have moved on and switched to google searches. Google is a better search engine, as are many of the others. When I search now, I get the information for the first time, and always the first time. I no longer have to do multiple searches to get the exact research I need. Bing is not a good search engine and that is what they were paying out rewards to get users. I am finished with any type of MS software or products after this type of behavior on their part. Spread the word - marketing can make or break a company - I have transitioned to all apple products and I am so much happier with the results.

I’m having the exact same problem. I don’t know how this happened in the first place. I only do my searches using the Bing trending search generated by Microsoft Rewards. I’ve been restricted for 6 months now. I’m beyond frustrated with their AI generated response.
