Bing Web Search API yields 0 results from X site, while a plain Bing search finds many

Given the query "site:boards.greenhouse.io software developer software engineer", as well as various variations of it (see below), the Bing Web Search API will return zero webpage results. However, Bing Search will return correctly filtered webpages from the site in question. What gives? How can I resolve this?

Queries I've tried:

  • software+site:boards.greenhouse.io
  • site:boards.greenhouse.io software
  • site:boards.greenhouse.io
  • site:boards.greenhouse.io "software" developer engineer

Thanks in advance!

    Hello,EL71

Welcome to posting in the Microsoft Community.

Thank you for describing the problem in detail and I understand your confusion. The fact that regular Bing Search returns accurate results normally, but Bing Web Search API does not find anything, is indeed a difficult phenomenon, especially after trying multiple search methods, but still no effect.

From the information you have provided, this problem is most likely caused by the following reasons: there is a difference in the query logic between Bing Web Search API and regular Bing Search, but for more specific information, you may need to go to the special section for answers. For your question, I would highly recommend going to the API section of the Microsoft Learn community. That's Microsoft's section for this type of question, and it brings together the developer community to share their experiences around using and answering questions about Microsoft APIs, especially when it comes to the technical principles of the questions, and the technical support from more specialized experts and volunteers!

Because the boards are cumbersome, I'll direct you to the supported location by clicking on it:
