The update to microsoft designer generative erase is awful, yes it removes the object, but it now also removes the background and leaves a white hole. Come on really?!

It actually looks to me like they totally removed Generative AI Erase and replaced it with the simpler but far less powerful object erase...a total miss which renders it useless to me.

Too many of these issues with MS as they don't listen to the voice of their customers.

Does anyone know if they are going to reinstate the original erase?

I don't understand why it was taken off in the first place. :(

Also, does anyone know of a different AI generator which offers this... it seems pointless using this system now as the images are useless to me if I can't tailor them to my specific requirements.

Same problem here. Glenna's feedback post is here:

Hopefully if some more people can give it an upvote it and perhaps a comment it will get some attention.

Generative erase had been an absolutely essential tool for me. It could clean up additional fingers and limbs, unwanted background figures, and all sorts of silly stuff the ai likes to put in. Removing it was a massive downgrade. I hope it will return soon, otherwise much of dalle's output has become useless.

It should be an easy fix as the functionality was already developed and MS simply has to bring it back. I don't know what they are philosophising about...just bring it back and end the unnecessary conversations.
