    Hello,

    I have RA2 and Yuri Revenge installed on my PC at the moment while running Windows 10. There are a few things you'll have to do. After installing it, go to the folder you installed it to (default is C:\Westwood\RA2 OR C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert II if you're running it through Origin) find the following .exe's

    Game.exe and gameMD.exe right click them, select properties, and under the compatibility tab select run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, also check off the box that says "run as administrator".

    That alone will allow the game to run, but it will be pretty laggy in-game. To help with the lag find the .ini files in the same folder listed above, they are "ra2.ini and ra2md.ini" open them with notepad and under section titled [Video] add the following line"

    VideoBackBuffer=no

    optionally you can also change your resolution to a higher one, as the game forces you to play on a lower resolution because its so old, but you can play on 1920x1080 if you monitor supports it. below is an example of my ra2.ini video section:

    [Video]

    ScreenWidth=1920

    ScreenHeight=1080

    StretchMovies=no

    VideoBackBuffer=no

    One thing to note is, you cannot minimize once the game is loaded or it will crash. I'm not sure how to fix that yet.

    Lastly, if you want even less lag in-game there is a third party patch to speed up in-game graphics, you can find it on the RA2 Online ladders website (xwis)

    http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/173459-graphics-patch-to-speed-up-tiberian-sun-red-alert-2/

    The steps to apply that patch are located in that forum post, as well a a download to the patch itself.

    Also as a last thing, in windows 10 the MS Xbox DVR app forces VSync to be turned on. I have a 144hz monitor and it was forcing my refresh rate to 60 which made the game feel sluggish.

    If you don't use the Xbox app, you can remove it using powershell by opening powershell as an administrator and pasting in this line:

    Get-Appxpackage *xbox* | Remove-AppxPackage

    This will allow the game to run in whatever your monitors refresh rate is set to.

    Have fun.

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Community.

    It seems that Microsoft does not have any information regarding the compatibility of this game: “Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge” with Windows 8.

    You may check this from link below:

    Windows Compatibility Center

    This is a very old game and their system requirements shows that it is compatible with older version of Windows, it does not seems to be compatible even with Windows 8.

    I suggest you to uninstall this game and then install this game in compatibility mode with earlier version of Windows and check if it works.

    Uninstall, change or repair a program

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/uninstall-change-program

    Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

    For more information on Program compatibility follow link below:

    Note: These links also applies to Windows 10.

    Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.

    I had a problem with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge in Windows 10 x64 - the game starts with just a back screen and I can hear music sounds but no graphics, this applies to the C&C First Decade using the Games Launcher.

    Here is the solution - I don't know which worked first so it's a little trial and error.

    Firstly many solutions revolve around the compatibility issue - so browse to the main program folders "C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert (tm) II .

    Firstly check you have full permissions to read/write etc by right clicking folder then properties -

    I unchecked the read only/hidden files box also, then click the security tab to ensure full read/write access etc.

    Secondly go to the RA2 folder - look for the applications game and RA2 - you can right click and choose properties on each of these and change the compatibility.

    The above still didn't seem to work - but I found this http://bitpatch.com/ddwrapper.html and click on the link where it says Home of Aqrit's ddwrapper, ddwrapper.zip ( src included ) and unzipped it to the same RA2 folder i didn't edit any other settings = it now works and I do not need to set any compatibility to either the game or RA2 applications or in the TFD Launcher.

    This has enabled both Red Alert 2 and Red Alert Yuri's Revenge to work on a Windows 10 X64 environment.

    I find with older application such as Red Alert, you need to do the following to get them to operate in the newer operating systems. I have played Red Alert, including Yuri's Revenge, in Windows 8.1 with now problems using the method outlined below:

    Run the setup as Administrator

    Install the application in a folder outside of the C:\Program Files (x86) file path - i.e. C:\Red Alert\Yuri\
