Hi,

I just joined the Insider Beta Channel. But my laptop is not retrieving HP Inc.-Firmware-15.12.0.0 driver .

Can some one say where I can pick this update up?

The background is in the below link.

Tried renaming the file and running it, no luck, error 0x80070002. I have a case open with HP, still going through the motions.

    Hello philvaanz,

Does HP not have a firmware update on drivers site?  Most firmware updates I have come across are normally in the form of executables these days. Perhaps this cab file needs to be imported from the bios, curious, let us know what they come up with. Each device has its own methods.

    Have a great day.

    Regards,

To add to Suat's suggestion, try renaming the cab file to something simpler, eg driver.cab.

The path may be too long or incorrect to display "file not found". Dism is not finding the file error, could be in the path and or filename.

    Regards,

Context menu to install CAB updates in Windows 10

Open an elevated command prompt. Type the following command:

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"C:\update\cabname.cab"

Again, correct the path to the update to match your file location. For example:

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"C:\x64\windows10.0-kb4601382-x64.cab"

    Regards,

Thanks for the quick reply. There are couple of files there under this version and all of them are cab files . The version I am after was released first half of 2021 where as the files in the update catalog all have 2020 dates.

Also any idea on how to apply these cab files manually? When you open them they just extract as files.

Typically HP supplies an exe to run for the firmware.

Details are in the below screenshot, extracted from https://github.com/microsoft/WSL/issues/5911 .

    Hi.

Maybe you should download the firmware from Microsoft Update Catalog and then install manually.

Pls check if your firmware is here.

    Hope this helps.
