Windows Backup time discrepancy

Does Windows Backup work? Have set to backup hourly. When I go to Windows Backup and take a look, the last date shown is almost a week old? If it back ups hourly, shouldn't that reflect todays date, 1 hour ago?

not meaning to beat a dead horse here, but under File History, its set to save copies every hour, today is the 31st, and the date last shown as being saved was the 23rd. If this is set to reference windows 7...why??? Windows 10 has been out for 5+ years now ?! I got rid of Windows 7 a long long long time ago.

Ok. Yesterday after I got your response, I printed and saved a copy of that response, as a PDF to my Desktop. Under File History, I clicked on Run now... File history is supposed to save my new files on my " Desktop".  A day later, I go to File History and it is still showing the date of Last Run being the 23rd of December. Since I clicked on run now, with a new document saved to my Desktop...should the date have changed to the 31st of December?!

I believe it should have, yes. Please file the feedback in Feedback Hub and share the link with me.

What you are showing is File History. This is for Windows 10. The comment I made about Windows Backup was to clarify that these are two different things. Apologize for the confusion.

As for the date, File History only updates when files have changed. If it runs every hour and nothing changes it won't update. If you are sure files have changed, then check the event logs to see if there are errors. If you don't see any errors, then please file feedback in Feedback Hub and share the link with me.

Files are backed up in Windows 10 using File History. It works differently than a disk backup utility. The Windows Backup utility is for restoring files from old Windows 7 backups and is not designed (or supported) for backing up Windows 10.
