i think the problem started a couple of weeks ago, probably after the Windows 11 Insider Preview 23615.1000 (ni_prerelease) update. i updated to Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.26052.1100 (ge_release) but the problem persist

basically i cant open any windows-related apps like paint or notepad. i tried reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable but the problem persists. ran a scan but it doesnt show any problems

the errors i get are like

bad image

yeah, i got it to work without having to format the computer. the solution was actually really simple:

go to settings > apps > installed apps, and select one that doesnt work for you (i did it with paint) > click the three dots > advanced options > repair

i dont remember my exact steps since i did it like three months ago, but this should do it

    Hi jbf_340,

Have you ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth in PowerShell admin.

    After that use sfc /scannow

If that still fails, use 26052 .ISO and use the setup within Windows, if it still fails after that clean install Windows to the build you like the most.

The Windows Insider Program (microsoft.com) Use this link to get to the .ISO

thanks. tried your first solution and no luck. what do you mean by using the setup within windows? also, isnt 26052 the update that gave me this issue, shouldnt i be using 26040 instead?
