Widget page stuck on sign in loop

I've tried EVERYTHING to get my widgets to work on Windows 11 - I've watched videos about it, I've tried disabling my graphics drivers, I've turned the widgets of and on again in taskbar settings. I've signed out of edge and back in while turning the widgets on and off again, I've done everything and my widgets just won't work. I get the sign in page, I sign in the little doo hickey spins and when it stops, the sign in page is there again. I've tried signing out of edge and then restarting my PC while widgets were turned OFF, then tried turning them back on and signing into edge again - NOTHING.

Can someone PLEASE help me.

I've watched ALL the youtube vids I could find and tried EVERYTING they said to try, nothing. But then I can't find my exact problem either. I guess I should be clear about the problem. I seem to be stuck on a "sign in" loop on my widgets page, because when I do sign in, it just goes right back to the sign in page.

Lots of reasons to not to have it use a Different email account for widgets to login. I don't consider that a solution, at best a temporary work around.

I have found a solution (probably it's applicable for all builds) but it's not at all pretty.

From what I understand, there's some sort of corruption regarding either the ownership rights or the sign in procedure. I also had it in Microsoft Edge when I first upgraded to Windows 11, it just wouldn't let me view the stored passwords in Edge, it was looping asking for PIN/password without doing anything, just like the Widgets issue. I tried every solution available online, repairing, etc etc, it didn't do anything.

I am not sure which file/folder/process/whatever is responsible for that login issue. I actually had to do the below procedure twice because I messed up the first time (details below about that).

What I did that fixed all the login issues so far was:

    1. Create a new local account and make it Administrator. Do not use "sign up with a local account instead", you need to create a new account from scratch.
    2. Sign out from your old account and sign in with your new local account.
    3. Try logging onto Widgets, pick the "Microsoft Apps can sign me in", finish the sign in procedure. Widgets should load up normally after that, at least it did for me. Just be sure not to suddenly convert your local account into an MS one yet.
    4. Backup the Documents/Videos/Music/Downloads/Pictures from the old account user folder. (Be sure to turn on hidden files just in case).

DO NOT Backup ANYTHING from the other folders that you don't specifically know you absolutely need unless you are 100% certain it's not corrupted in some way. I was following instructions I found online about creating a new user account and backing up everything but the NTUSER.* files. I noticed just one NTUSER file so I skipped that. Well, turns out there must be SOMETHING somewhere (my guess is in the AppData folder or something) that was also part of the problem. On my first try, I copied everything but the NTUSER file, but the problem persisted. The second time (which was successful) I only backed up the Documents/Videos/Music/Downloads/Pictures.

    1. Once you're sure you've backed up what you need, go into the Account settings and delete the old account.
    2. If you're like me and you want your main account to be the MS account, just convert your local account into your MS account in the Account options.

You will need to reinstall a number of stuff and configure apps etc so it's not great but it worked for me so I thought I'd share.

I have found a solution, at least for me.

As i noted, widgets were working for another user account on my machine that was local.

So I tried changing to local. Signed into my Microsoft account (answering that only microsoft apps can sign me in), and verified that widgets worked. Than I switched my user back to login with Microsoft ID.

I have the same problem. When I created a new account (local) it worked for me. I don't know if that is a option for you.

    Hope I could help you.
