in Windows 8.1 - Is there a way to open up to the new DuckDuckGo Search Engine FIRST?

In Windows 8.1 in Microsoft Edge Browser, I have successfully changed my default search engine from MS Bing to DuckDuckGo.  However whenever I open up the Browser, it always opens to MS Bing search engine first, and I must click on the little house (home) to the left of the search bar in order to go to the DuckDuckGo default search engine.  Is there a way to open up to the DDG search engine FIRST?  This extra step to get to the default (DDG) search engine is becoming annoying :)  Thank You.

FYI - I downloaded DuckDuckGo as an App to my task bar, then I also went to the "Settings>On Startup>Open a specific page or pages>Add a new page" and typed in the DDG url.  Then I restarted my PC and clicked on the DDG icon in my task bar, and it opened up directly to the DDG search engine.  This solves my issue.

Thank you for your kind response, as it emboldened me to try these additional steps.

I have done exactly as you suggested, and the url for the DDG home page is pasted i the home page section in the settings section.  However, when I open the browser,  it goes immediately to the bing browser which shows up in the middle of the page, and then I must click on the little house (home) icon next to the query bar on top in order to be in the DDG browser, which also then shows up in the middle of the page.  I have re-entered the information as you suggested several times, and the bing browser always supersedes the "home page" browser in settings.

I use the DuckDuckGo search engine about 95% - Google Map/Directions is mostly the remaining 5%.  My thought is that perhaps there is a way that I can disable the MS Bing somewhere (the Control Panel??), but have not been able to find a location to do so.

Hi Zina, thanks for posting your question in the community! My name is David, an independent advisor and I am here to help you.

In this situation, it is possible that you have only configured the search engine, but you have not yet predetermined a main page to start together with Microsoft Edge, for this process, please follow the steps of the following link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402757...

Remember that in order for you to use your search engine as you need it, it must be configured in the search bar and as the main page, you only need to copy and paste the browser URL in the home page section in the settings section.

Let me know if the shared information has been helpful or if you still need more help, I will be waiting for your response.
