Printing in in Edge including .PDF files

The edge print driver is very restrictive and doesn't even let you select printing in portrait or landscape much less features on your printer specifically. The only method is to save the file as a .pdf file and then let the windows 10 driver you have selected do the printing function. This is very restrictive and time consuming and if this can't be rectified then I will most likely will need to change to a different browser. The new edge version is worse than the previous.

Why doesn't microsoft fix this problem.  The previous print dialog box was way better.  This is a large step back wards and very annoying. I appreciate Greg's suggestions but do not have the skills, time, or desire to do those things.  Just want what I previously had.

    Hi Greg,

Hope all is well with you. The Virus is really causing a lot of issues and a great deal of concern. The best thing seems to be to stay home. Therefore I'm working on the problem to see if it can be resolved although I have found a work around that isn't perfect, but seems to work.

I turned off Roboform and it made no difference. The print menu still didn't offer portrait or Landscape, but that's the least of my problems. I will now try some of your other suggestions and will let you know the results. Very Frustrated as to why Edge doesn't seem to use it's own windows default for .pdf files.

    Have a nice day,

    Michael Sacks

I don't know if Roboform could mess up your print options. You could remove it and all other Extensions to see.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

    Thanks Greg,

I’m running V10 1909 and just added the new Edge and thats when I started having issues. I have Adobe Reader as my default for .pdf files, but edge seems to have a mind of it’s own.

I will review what you sent and work in this over the weekend and will respond asap. Thank you very much.

by the way i’m using Roboform with edge using the extension. That shouldn’t be an issue should it?

Hi Michael. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator here to help you.

I'm not sure why you don't have Landscape option in new Edge Print preview as mine does as shown in screenshot.

I'll give you everything that works to fix Edge so at least something will work:

Back up your Favorites first in Edge Hub (three dots top right of browser) > Favorites > Manage Favorites > Export to file. If you can't reach Edge you can install the tiny app Manage Edge Favorites here: http://www.emmet-gray.com/Articles/EdgeManage.html to do this, which also gives Edge all of the Favorites Management enjoyed in Internet Explorer.

You can reset new Edge in Edge Settings > Reset Settings, or for old Edge in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features, scroll down to Microsoft Edge, highlight it, choose Advanced Options, then Repair, or if that fails, Reset.

If that doesn't help then try re-registering the app following Option Two here: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re...

New Edge is available for download here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge and will replace the old one. To run both see here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/144061-enab...

I would have several browsers on your task bar so there's always one that's best for the task. I use Firefox, Edge and Chrome in that order of preference. It's easy to share bookmarks between all of them in their settings under Import Favorites from another Browser, and Firefox and Chrome let you sign in to save and/or sync your Favorites on any other device you sign into. Set the preferred browser as Default in Settings > Apps > Default Apps.

If nothing else helps then run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This will also bring it up to the latest version 1909 which you need anyway by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
