I received some PDF files via email but they have the .aspx extension.  I cannot open them.  I have tried to find a view where I could rename them and change the file extension but have been unsuccessful.  My browser in Microsoft Edge.  Is there a method that I can use to open these files?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

An ASPX file is an Active Server Page Extended (ASPX) file, which is a webpage generated by web servers running the Microsoft ASP.NET framework.

ASPX files are generated by a web server and contain scripts and source codes that help communicate to a browser how a web page should be opened and displayed.

As you have mentioned that you tried to rename the file, we would like to know the procedure you followed to rename them. However, we would suggest you to perform these steps before renaming the file.

    1. Download/save the .aspx file on to your computer (Documents/Downloads/Desktop)
    2. Press Windows + E key to open File Explorer.
    3. Select View tab and click on Options
    4. Click on Change folder and search options. Select the View tab.
    5. Under Advanced settings, uncheck the box beside Hide extensions for known files types.
    6. Click Apply and OK.
    7. Now right click on the saved .aspx file and rename it as filename.pdf
