Problem with the with Widevine Content Decryption Module

There is a problem with the Widevine Content Decryption Module component in Edge.  It will not hold the update to version 4.10.1610.0.

When the update button is clicked it updates to that latest version, but when Edge is cycled out and back in again the version reverts back to 4.10.1582.1.

Every time I open Edge, my security software repeatedly reports the reversion back to 4.10.1582.1.

The attached screenshot below shows the Edge component reporting the latest version after updating and also the properties of the .dll file reporting the previous version.  When Edge is closed and reopened the Components page shows it has reverted back to 4.10.1582.1

Hey! Thanks so much to everyone in here who posted. The team is aware of this issue, currently investigating, and we believe to have made some fixes in our Stable (version 81) and Beta (version 83) channels. If you are on either Dev or Canary (both of those are on version 84), know that we are still working on fixing it there and expect the fix to be in place in the next few days. I’ll update once I know that fix is in place!

GREAT to see! I am able to confirm now that everyone on all of our builds should be resolved. However, if you notice this still happening, do not hesitate to report it through the browser directly (message icon in the top right, or hold Alt+Shift+i). The team monitors those reports frequently.

I am the original poster of this problem.  Norton has just given me a notification that it had updated widevinecdm.dll to version 4.10.1610.0 and upon checking, this is the version now installed in my system and it has held.  I have cycled Edge several times since and there were no repeat notifications of the download.  Looks like this one is now solved.

I am having the same problem and it's very annoying. This seemed to start only after the latest update to Edge.

I updated Windows to 1909 some time ago, but this problem seems to have begun just a few days ago, maybe as a result of a subsequent Windows update.
