Can I make Edge to automatically download files?

Hi,

I really liked the behaviour of Edge that it asked me where to save a file. Now I need to select first if I want to save or open the file. I rarely open a download immediately so when downloading and saving a lot of files this means a lot of additional clicking. Is there any way to get the old behaviour back? A setting that is hidden and not visible in the settings?

Not really a workaround. It makes no difference if I click "save" or "save as" for every single file. I guess then I will have to live with the change that everybody else needed so badly.

Hi Adigo75, I am Paulo. I'm an Independent Advisor and an individual like you inclined to help.

To automatically download a file without being asked where to save, just click ... in Edge > Settings > Downloads and disable "Ask me what to do with each download"

You can also set the download location above it so it will go straight to your preferred location.

Let me know if this helps.

So basically, you want just the 'Save as' option and remove the Open option, is that correct? If so, the Open option was added to the latest version as requested by most users so there's no way to remove this now.

A workaround on this is to click all the files that you want to download without clicking an option then click Show all to view those so you can Save as each download and rename it.

Thanks for the reply. I found that setting but this will download to the default location without being able to change the file name. Before the change the file saving window popped up and I could change the file name before saving, so I still could identify the file when I searched for it later.
