Managing media playback issues and settings in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Not sure if this is even worth it. Tired of coming here to complain about a feature that does not work, and yet, will work on Google Chrome. This is my last complaint.
I CANNOT PLAY A VIDEO FROM A NEWS AGENCY ON THIS BROWSER. I CAN GO TO GOOGLE CHROME AND PLAY IT. SO IF MICROSOFT WANTS CUSTOMERS, GET THE DAMN THING RIGHT. I DO NOT BELIEVE THERE IS A WAY ANYONE CAN KEEP ME FROM NOT GOING BACK TO CHROME. OR IS THERE?
AND YES, I AM YELLING....TOO BAD!

HP 17T Envy laptop
Version 80.0.361.50 (Official build) (64-bit)
Fox business new (FBN) for one example
No error message, it just will not play. However, all will play on google chrome.
Acceleration has been turned off.
I have to face the facts, as well as microsoft employees; EDGE (at least the chromium version) is not up to speed yet and has too many bugs. I hate using a google product; however, it appears I have to until MS gets their act together and learns how to program a browser and make it trouble free.
Therefore, I have decided just to sign off Edge for now, maybe check back every 3 months and see if the bugs are gone. If not, I will take it that MS does not want me to use their browser; no problem. Google sure does.
Thanks for the support; too bad nothing ever works.
Hi,
Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.
We understand how frustrating it could be as you are unable to watch the videos from a news agency on Edge but you can play the same video on Google chrome. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.
Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform these steps to disable Hardware Acceleration in Edge.
Also, we would like you to check if Windows update is up to date. As we have seen problems with streaming videos in regard to video drivers being out of date. Some third-party cards (NVidia, ATI for example) have their own update software installed thus Windows Update will not apply. If the above does not correct the streaming issue, verify third-party drivers are up to date.
We await your response.
