How can I get rid of a removed personal microsoft account?

I, for some reason awhile back, created a personal Microsoft account, call it "******@mydomain.com" which is the same address exactly as my 365 work/school account. This has caused a few things to happen.

When I go to connect to certain things I prompts me with which one do I want to use every time.
My personal computer has this account (the personal one) as one of its accounts. I cannot remove this from my machine. The only button that appears is "Manage". This just got me to the home page for that account. So, not using this for anything, I chose to remove that one. I did that yesterday. This made no difference, it still prompts me with the "which account do you want to use" and the account remains on my personal system. I even went through the resgistry and remeoved evey occurance of the string "******@mydomain.com", and it is still on the accounts page.

How can I remove this from my life??

Jim.

    Hi,
You could try the following steps:

    1. Right-click on the Start button and then select Computer Management.
    2. Navigate down through Local Users and Groups, and then double-click on Users.
    3. Locate the username in the list that you’d like to delete.
    4. Right-click the user account, and then click on Delete.

    Take note of the following:

    • Before you perform this procedure, you must provide credentials for the Administrator account on the local computer (if you are prompted), or you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer.
    • When deleting a user account, it is recommended that you first disable the account. When you are certain that disabling the account has not caused a problem, you can safely delete the account.
    • Once you delete a user account, it cannot be recovered.
    • The Guest account and the Administrator account cannot be deleted.

    Best regards.

@Anonymous Unfortunately, I have deleted the account in question so I can't get past the first step in that solution. Thank you though, wish I found that before I deleted it.
