Web apps - reinstall

I had to reset Edge and after that the apps just took me to a new tab in new window in Edge. They did not exist in manage apps but did exist in windows apps but selecting uninstall didn't remove them. So it seems I can't recreate them unless I get rid of the old ones and I can't do that either. You got any ideas?

It was a pretty poor work around. It only worked for some of my apps. I found a better one.

Deleting the following directory:

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge

makes edge go through the startup sequence again.

All shortcuts are lost, but I found edge remembered my favourites, passwords etc because I think they are saved to Onedrive. If you don't do that make sure they have been backed up somehow. After that you should be able to install and uninstall web apps again.

Neither yours or MarkMercieca's methods lead me to the PWA's I could recognize and uninstall. I'm trying to uninstall Gmail and Google Sheets.

I had the same issue. I reset edge to get it to work with my headphones but apps no longer worked after that. They didn't show in the app manager but showed in windows start menu, add remove programs.  I couldn't uninstall them and I couldn't reinstall them.

I followed your instructions but I couldn't find the reg keys in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE location. I searched and found them under

    *HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3350713137-2408812829-3973387247-1007\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall*

****There's no option to Uninstall the registry key on the right-click menu but there is to Delete. Deleting the registry key (after I backed up the registry) removed the app from the add remove programs window and allowed me to reinstall the app.

Deleting the app didn't remove it from start menu. I had to manually do that by deleting the shortcut to the app from

    C:\Users[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

    Untidy Microsoft!

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you’re facing issues when removing websites installed as an app using Microsoft Edge, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

We will certainly investigate this for you.

Ideally, when you install a website as an app, it will be visible in both Microsoft Edge as well as Apps & Features. Since you’re unable to remove the websites from Apps & Features, let’s try removing them from Registry and see if you’re able to install them again.

**Note:**Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. To backup and restore registry key, refer tothislink.

    1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run’.
    2. In Run dialog box, type ‘regedit’ and hit Enter.
    3. On the left hand pane navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
    4. Each key under Uninstall represents a program that appears in Add/Remove Programs. To determine which program that each key represents, click the key, and then view the file DisplayName from the right hand pane.
    5. Once you identify the registry key for the program, right click on the registry key and click on Uninstall
    6. Restart the PC.

Let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards,
