Hi

Looking for some best practices Microsoft recommend on a couple of things:

I know usually you'd install a 64bit app on a 64bit computer. Not sure if this is still the case but I remember with office Microsoft still recommened to install the 32bit version

What about New edge? 32 or 64?

Also will old edge addins break when installing new edge?

    Hi PatrickGuerrisi

if you haver 4GB or less RAM install 32 bit,

if all of the hardware supports 64bit, install 64 bit windows.

unless you are using old 32bit addins for office, a 64 bit ARM-based processor or old applications that expect 32 bit office components, the 64bit would be better, and allows for better memory allocation, larger data sets.

64 bit windows and office takes more disk space than 32bit

Edge the version that matches the architecture of the OS will be installed.

Legacy edge extensions will not work in edge chromium, however the number of extensions written for Edge chromium is growing fast.

in addition, you can use Google chrome extensions in Edge chromium.

Pretty much the recommendation anymore, even with Office, is to install the 64 bit version of the newest versions. So little is legacy 32 bit anymore.

    that is strange,

from what i can find this is an error(?) with chrome and Microsoft allowed it to continue when building edge on the chrome platform.

google are addressing the issue with chrome and I expect Microsoft will correct it with edge as well in the near future.
