Edge takes up a lot of space on android

Greetings

My Edge browser on android takes up a lot of storage, after a few weeks of use, the install size can get to two gigabytes. Clearing cache only removes a small amount, and the only solution I found was doing a fresh install, which is counter-intuitive.

Hi folks,

I wanted to provide an update that this issue should be resolved as of version 45.12.24.5125, so if you're on a later version and still running into Edge taking up far too much storage and growing with use, please let me know!

Hi Ammar, I am Paulo. I'm an Independent Advisor and an individual like you inclined to help.

I use it as well and It really does take an ample amount of storage. What I always do is to clear data instead of just clearing the cache every week or if it consumes too much space.

I turn off sync first then sign out my account. This is to clear only the data that's on my phone. Next is I go to the Apps settings of your phone then clear the data and cache there. Clearing data will restore the app to its original state with no saved data at all like it was just freshly installed.

Hopefully, Microsoft makes a lite version of the app someday. I'm sorry that that's just what I can advise as this is beyond our capability as users. However, you can leave feedback on this for improvement using the Edge app just like I did. Just click the three dots then Send feedback. You can take a screenshot of the data size consumed on your phone then replace the screenshot included in your feedback.

    Hopefully, this somehow helps.

Edge is currently reported as using over 10.79 GB on my android phone.

Currently it's the browser I like the more but it's disk space usage is now unbearable.

It's odd that the "data" storage is shown as increasing but the "cache" storage remains low.

There must be some nasty bug behind this !

The install size was about 5.6 gigabytes on my android phone.

On my Android phone, it takes "only" 2.3gb for data (not cache). I thought it was a huge amount but, according to what other people are reporting here, there is still a long way for the app to saturate my phone storage.
