Hi,

Does anyone have the same issue re above subject? I got Windows 10.

The web pages take time to open (10-15 seconds at least) and the laptop generally feels slow compared to few months ago when I bought it.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Av

    Hi Av -

You can System Restore or uninstall Updates that might have caused this per the steps I gave. Then if they reinstall and cause the same problems block them per the steps in

    https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta....

I would also test the new local account to sign into to see if the same problem happens and is caused by a corrupted account. This is quite common here.

    There are two automated Resets:

    https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-use...

    http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/reset-windows...

Also look over this tutorial for a gold standard Clean Install which compiles the best possible Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki... It is a great learning experience that makes you permanently the master of your PC because you learn everything that works best and how to apply it with your own hands.

Even if you don't do the Clean Install you'll learn how to not forget anything to back up before Fresh Start or Reset, then how to set it up after install with everything that works best.

Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.

    Hi Greg,

Many thanks for the advice. Greatly appreciated.

FYI, I have completed your recommended steps 1, 2, 3 except Step 16, and step 4 (media creation tool).

This has helped, however, start times for some sites such as Outlook and Microsoft Community Forums, Youtube and few others I tested randomly  still take time. Typ 10-15 seconds to load up as previously.

In summary, the laptop starts up quickly and some websites which took longer before load up quickly but others don't.

Shall I do a factory reset, if there is such a thing on latops?

Also, you advised me to uninstall the Windows security updates which I have not done either as I was bit conscious about security vulnerability etc, shall I uninstall the updates?

Again you help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Av

Hi Av. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator. If you will work with me I will be here to help until the issue is resolved.

    1. See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

If the problem repeats then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta...

    1. Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from HP Support Downloads web page here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers using the full model number or Serial Number on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

    1. Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    1. If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

But remember that in Windows 10 everything depends upon the quality of the install, and Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider now or later doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

There is also an automated Fresh Start that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
