Opening and reading PDF files in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
We currently run IE Mode for a legacy application, and need PDF links to open in the native Adobe PDF application. I have "Always Download PDF Files" enabled, and Adobe is the default application for opening PDF files. This all works properly in Edge, but when I click on PDF links using IE Mode, they always open in a separate IE Mode browser window as opposed to Acrobat. I've tried several registry entries to include adding "AlwaysOpenPDFExternally" to no avail. How do I force this for IE Mode?
Thank you

Thank you, but unfortunately this does not apply to IE Mode in Edge. I appreciate your efforts.
Shubey, is this an organizational setting? If so I would ask this at our sister forums for IT Professionals, Q&A forums here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/answers/index.... as Microsoft Community is strictly an end-consumer forum.
There are also equally good (and sometimes busier) IT Pro forums here:

I hope it helps.
This is the best I can find for opening PDF's in IE Mode:
Greg,
Thank you for the reply. I have added the "AlwaysOpenPdfExternally" value to several registry locations to no avail. These are as follows:
This works great in Edge, but it does not force PDFs to open externally in IE Mode. Is there a separate registry path specifically for IE Mode?
Thanks again.
