Hi, I'm trying to enable the service called "windows update medic service", when trying to enable it in Properties, and select the setting I want, it says "Access Denied", I am a admin on my computer.

I have tried using command prompt, and in the registry.

Thanks :)

Is there a way to set it to automatic, as updates doesn't show up because it’s not running

That's correct. It gets triggered to start by other process. If you want it Automatic then set the Start to 2 in registry

Windows update breaks peoples computers with no consequences. Not only that they happened to delete peoples personal files. I'd say it's a good reason to have the updates disabled. I'm certainly disabling on my laptops after recent update brought down my PC. You want protection use antivirus and anti-malware tools. Want useless features at the cost of possibility of breaking your machine do it at your own risk.

    Might try navigating to
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WaaSMedicSvc
and set the Start to 3
