Edge crashes upon trying to print

The only workaround we've been able to find is to press CTRL + SHIFT + P. None of the other methods of printing through the browser work i.e. CTRL + P, right click - print, 3 dots in top right corner - print. All of those result in Microsoft Edge immediately crashing. No printing prompt pops up or anything. All we want is to print to PDF, however we're not even getting the prompt in order to do that.

We have tried lots of potential solutions and none have worked. I do NOT want to mess with the registry.

  • Updated all Windows updates
  • Reinstalled Edge
  • Disabled Print to PDF and re-enables in Windows features.
  • Reset all Edge settings
  • Checked for driver updates

I really don't know what the issue is. Every other application on the computer is able to print fine - including other browsers. I have read through a lot of forums to try and figure out what the problem and solution is, but nothing seems to work. I saw on some forums that this was a bug and a fix was going to come around, however that was over a year ago.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, if you need anymore information please let me know.

Thanks!

    Hi Team,

We have the same issue started a couple of month ago.

After a long investigation noticed Edge v.83 works but any version after that crashes the Edge once user try to print out (does not matter how to print through print to PDF, or direct print, or network shared print as we are using Print Server).

I have tried to remove our McAfee DLP and it fixed the issue, but this is not the permanent solution as we have to use DLP for the security reason.

I have tested the latest version of Edge (Edge V.107.0.1418.56) but no luck.

It would be much appreciated if you could find the solution and share it with me.

    Best regards,

    Omid

    1. Search for and select windows update settings in search bar
    2. Click view optional updates
    3. Click the driver update drop down >
    4. Select / tick your printer driver (you may want to update other hardware drivers listed too)
    5. Click Download and install

    Hi Jake,

I am Sumit here to assist you with this question.

Has the issue started with Edge 104 released a couple of days ago or is it old?
