Open links in an already running Edge instance

Hi.

I use multiple desktops for work. My Outlook is always running minimised to the tray area so I can open it on all of my desktops; I also have a running Edge instance on Desktop 1 at all times. I've noticed that when I leave it open in one and double-click on the icon, I get switched to the desktop in which it is running. This is fine! What I want is for that same behaviour to occur when clicking on a link; when I do, it opens a new Edge window if I'm not on Desktop 1. I want links to open in the Edge window on Desktop 1, all of them. This forum is full of questions of people requesting the opposite, but for me links have always opened in a new Edge instance; I don't want this to happen, I want all links to open in the same Edge window.

Please help!

Thanks!

I want all links to open in the same Edge window.

This is a Chromium issue, and last I heard there were no plans to change the default behaviour: "... we interpret the user intention ... to be to open Chrome on the current desk rather than switching desks and revisiting an existing window." 1061661 - On a new desk, clicking on the Chrome icon always opens a new window instead of listing open windows - chromium

Sending feedback to the Edge team (Alt-Shift-i) and persuading others to do the same is, I think, the only way to bring about a change in this behaviour.

Hello Óscar I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

Here is how to have Edge open in a tab in the same Window:

    https://www.technipages.com/edge-open-links-fro...

Across Virtual Desktops it describes the behavior you want here as being the default:

    https://superuser.com/questions/957245/how-to-o...

Others trying to get it to open in same Virtual Desktop tab:

If nothing else works then If you want to suggest this to Edge Developers you can choose the Edge Hub (three dots to right of URL address bar) then Help & Feedback, then Feedback form to fill out. They will probably not see it here..

If this in Edge Mobile, just scroll to the bottom of Settings to Send Feedback.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
