A Google search turns up the answer to Edge questions such as how to stop Edge from starting when you start Windows (not my problem) or how to stop Internet Explorer from redirecting to Edge (also not my problem).
For reasons that are not important (though probably based on the composition of the respective jump lists), I prefer to open some websites in Chrome (my default browser) and some in Edge. Usually I will have only one browser open at a time, but in the morning, when I want to open my Comics Kingdom feed in Chrome and my GoComics feed in Edge, this is fine as long as I start Edge first. If I slip up and open Comics Kingdom first, then Edge opens with both tabs.
Similarly, if I have a website open in Chrome and close it (and close the browser) and then open Edge, Edge opens with the closed tab from Chrome. This is unwanted and very disconcerting. I looked at Edge Settings and couldn't find anything that seemed to relate to this behavior. Is there any way to make it stop?
I'm happy to have Edge sync my Favorites and keep track of my browsing, but I don't need it to offer me unwanted content.

Hello Suzanne
This is a setting apparently On by default: you seem to need to turn it Off:
In a new Edge tab, open the page edge://settings/profiles/importBrowsingData and look for Import browser data on each launch.
Thanks, that sounded promising, but of course it's more complex than that because it involves all this:
And most of that is stuff I'm happy to import. But I did click through to "Open tabs" and turned that off, so perhaps that will help. I also took the opportunity to reset my start page (which I thought I'd already done, but I almost never open Edge from Home). I just tried restarting it, and it went straight to Google and did not open this tab (which I have open in Chrome), so I guess I'm home free. Thanks again!
