Adding quick link in Edge new tab

My New Tab page of Edge does not have a '+' button for the quick links, so I am unable to add new quick links. Is there a remedy for this?

    This is ridiculous.

    I agree. While the answer given by A. User is very detailed, and he/she is to be commended for taking the time to post it, it should not have been needed. Microsoft need to get their act together and fix Edge.

    Thank you, princess, but this does not help. In fact, I have already tried it before posting the question.

    I have researched this problem and noted that there were already complaints about it in the past. However, no remedy was suggested.

    Please follow these steps on how to enable the quick links on Microsoft Edge.

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Click the "Gear Icon" on the upper right corner of the page.
    3. Select "Custom".
    4. Toggle on the "Show quick links" switch.
    5. Check to see whether or not the problem has been resolved.

    Then what is your better reply on how to restore the Add button to Quick Links?

    With respect, I think that the "ridiculous" comment was referring not to the detailed response from A. User, but rather to the fact that we should not have to jump through these hoops to fix a problem that is Microsoft's responsibility.
