Favourites are not saving in MS Edge

Hello, up until last week I had several folders with saved websites on MS Edge. Now each morning after shutting my PC down, MS edge is not keeping the favourites that I saved the previous day and is only saving a couple of the new websites/folders that I have saved. I have tried all the answers, repairing MS Edge etc. Also, my PC will not restore previous versions of favourites. I've also un-synced and this has still happened with it not synced or synced. Hopefully someone can help resolve this problem. I am a Windows 10 user with a HP all in one PC. Thank you

    Wendy -

Check if automatically clearing browsing history is set:

This should not include Favorites, though. Will it preserve all Favorites you save now? Try putting them on the Favorites Bar to monitor them more closely. Open Edge Settings from three dots at right end of URL box, then Favorites, then Settings (three dots again) then Show Favorites Bar > Always.

    Wendy -

If you're referring to the backup of Favorites, it's an HTML file which can be exported and imported into Edge to restore Favorites.

Are you saving the Favorites which are going missing any differently than the ones that are sticking on the Favorites Bar? You should be using the same Favorites Save tool from the star at the right end of the URL box, changing the Folder dropdown menu from Favorites Bar to Favorites.

    Hi Greg

It saved my favourites after closing MS Edge, and I've followed all the steps above, ensuring everything that is supposed to be toggled on is etc, after shutting down my PC last night and turning on again this morning, I've once again lost the favourites that I saved yesterday. The ones saved onto the favourites bar however are still there. It is not saving new folders and the websites that I am saving into the folders. Also my favourites saved on the PC is saved as a HTML document and not individual sites, I don't know if that is what is contributing to the issue too?

    Thanks

Hi Greg, thanks for the reply. I followed the steps above. When I close MS edge and I log back in it has saved a couple of websites, but I've also noticed its completely erasing the history, could this be why this problem is occurring?

    Thanks

Hi Wendy. I'm Greg, 10 times awarded MVP, let's work together to get this fixed.

    1. Make sure you have signed in to Edge with your MS Account in Edge Settings > Profiles > Your Profile and that Sync includes Favorites enabled.
    2. If so then try these fixes for Edge Favorites not saving:

    1. Back up Edge Favorites manually:

    1. Then run this Edge Sync Reset:

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
