Managing bookmarks, browsing history, and downloads in Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
My discount stock broker offers a streaming data platform that runs on Java. (It is likely due for replacement but that is another discussion.)
I have just stopped using FireFox for this purpose as an update a short while back turned it into a sluggish, painfully slow exercise. Anything with a chrome engine turned out to be much faster, i.e., 'normal'.
How can I configure Windows 10 and/or Edge so that when I load the streaming data platform, I click once, it downloads the .jnlp file and automatically opens the streaming data platform.
The security software on the PC-workstation does not interfere with these operations.

Eric,
Thanks but no thanks. I cannot tell if you are a real person or a bot.
If you are a real person and you actually work at Microsoft, please forward the problem. You probably know the organization better than I do.
Otherwise, be happy, don't worry about it.
cheers -Erik
Hi
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
If you want to prevent edge from automatically downloading and opening files every time, you could try the following.
We would suggest you perform these steps to enable ask where to save each file before downloading in Edge.
Looking forward to your further news.
You are welcome to reply to this topic at any time, and sincerely thank you for your support of Microsoft products and services.

Derek19: I do not want to prevent Edge from automatically downloading and loading the .JNLP file. I want to enable Edge to do so.
I want to find a way to seamlessly download and open the .JNLP file with just one mouse click as opposed to the 3 mouse clicks I must currently perform.
How do I work around this paternalistic feature of Edge?
Otherwise, Edge works well with the discount broker. It is very fast.
regards -Erik
